About Best Diet Apps

We test diet apps so you don't have to waste months on ones that don't work.

Why We Started This Site

Eight years ago, I started recommending diet apps to weight loss clients in my health coaching practice. What I found was frustrating: most apps made big promises, charged real money, and left clients confused when the results they expected didn't materialize. The problem wasn't usually commitment or effort — it was that the tools they were using had fundamental accuracy and usability problems nobody talked about publicly.

I started systematically testing apps myself — logging the same meals simultaneously across multiple platforms, weighing food to verify accuracy, tracking how long logging actually took. The findings were eye-opening. Two apps I'd been recommending had average calorie errors above 20%. Users who thought they were in a 500-calorie deficit were actually close to maintenance. No wonder the scale wasn't moving.

Best Diet Apps is the resource I wish had existed when I started coaching. Every app we rank has been used daily for weeks. Every score reflects our actual testing data. No app pays to be reviewed, and no ranking is influenced by anything other than how the app performed.
